Welcome Future Minority Doctor!

Did you know that about 3 out of 10 people in the U.S. are Black, Latino, Native American, or Pacific Islander, but only 1 out of 10 doctors are? Wouldn’t it be nice if the faces and backgrounds of doctors were as diverse as their patients?

Marina & Zulma are two first-generation Latina doctors who have taken the journey to medical school and beyond. They recognize that being an under-represented minority (URM), first-generation student, or otherwise minoritized student on this path can come with unique challenges. Luckily, they’ve learned a few lessons along the way that they’d love to share with you! They hope to see more minorities empowered and inspired to become doctors, too.

Even if you are not a certain race or ethnicity, if you have grown up not seeing yourself reflected in the medical profession and want to know more about what it takes to become a doctor, we’re here for you!
